余談ですが、飛行機は乗り降りは左側の出入り口を使って、右側を使わない。不思議に思ったことはありませんか。技術的な理由があるわけではなく、船の古く
から習慣から。というのは欧州の中世以前の船は船尾に舵をつけるのではなく、船のサイドに板(Steering
board)を付けて、これを動かして船の向きを変えていました(さらに昔はオールや帆で向きを変えていたので、舵の要求は少なかったらしい。ちなみに船
尾に舵をつけるのは中国が最初で、その後に欧州に伝わったとされます)。この板を船の右側に付けていたので、港に付けるときは船の左側(右舷)を岸壁につ
けていました。飛行機は機体をシップ(Ship)、機長を船長(Captain)と呼ぶように船舶の影響を受けており、旅客機が左側からドアから乗り降り
するのその影響。ちなみに組織の意志決定機関をSteering boardと呼ぶことがありますが、これは船の方向を変える板(Steering
board)からきています。
